The Greek island of Santorini - in the last ten years it has developed into one of the world's biggest hotspots for weddings. Millions of tourists and thousands of weddings bring the island’s infrastructure and environment to its limits.
The forced hiatus caused by the corona pandemic has hit the island’s tourism hard. The number of visitors has plummeted. For many residents of Santorini, like the winemaker Ionna, this is an invitation to look for alternatives to mass tourism. Others, however, like wedding planner Anastasia and wedding photographer Wasim, are hoping for a quick return to normal business, and a new visitor record next year.
